Foods that are safe for us are not always safe for our pets. These include:

  • Chocolate
  • Avocado
  • Grapes and Raisins
  • Xylitol Sweetener (found in Gum & Toothpaste)
  • Macadamia Nuts
  • Yeast Dough
  • Onions and Garlic

Cautions for Cats:

There is a saying, “cats are not small dogs.” What this means is that cats are unique creatures that have very specific needs. These items cause serious problems for cats:

  • Lilies of all types
  • Mice that have been eating Rat Poison
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
  • Needles and Thread
  • Cleaning Solutions (like Pine-Sol)
  • Flea products made for dogs
  • Holiday Tinsel

Dangers for Dogs:

Dogs love life, eating and chewing. They sometimes make poor choices as to what is food and what is not. These items cause serious problems for dogs:

  • Peach Pits
  • Rat Poison
  • Corn Cobs
  • Slug Bait
  • Wood Glue
  • Fabric
  • Wooden Skewers or Deli Toothpicks
  • Acorns
  • Cocoa Mulch
  • Human Pain Relievers
  • Antifreeze
